Gym Etiquette

Please follow this simple guidance to keep our gym's clean, safe and enjoyable for all.

Our staff will politely remind customers of these guidelines, as needed. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of the team.

  • Wear appropriate clothing and clean footwear at all times.
  • Silent Phone Only. Please exit the gym for calls.
  • Use Headphones. Keep personal music at a reasonable volume.
  • Please Share Equipment. Consider others by not using, or grouping to use, a particular piece of equipment for long periods.
  • Wipe equipment after use.
  • Only use equipment that you have been shown how to use.
  • No Dropping Weights. Please handle equipment with care.
  • Return equipment and accessories to their proper locations.
  • No eating and no chewing gum. Stay hydrated with water only.
  • Permission is required to use photographic or video recording equipment in the Centre.
  • No bags in the floor. Use lockers for belongings.
  • Respect yourself and those around you by maintaining good personal hygiene.
  • Listen to staff guidance and respect team reminders for a safe space.
  • Maintain an awareness of your surroundings and refrain from shouting, swearing, banging weights and making loud noises.
  • Ensure you use the safety features on gym equipment. Ask a member of the Wave Team for assistance if needed. We are here to help.

Members under the age of 16 years

  • Free weights are not available for under 16’s.
  • Juniors (aged 11 to 13 years) must be with an adult in the gym.
  • Mandatory gym inductions are required for junior members.

Health First

  • Members are responsible for monitoring their own physical condition. Any changes in health should be notified to a staff member and participation may cease.
  • Stop exercising if you feel unwell and seek help. If in doubt, consult your GP before attending classes or using gym equipment.

Looking for something that tracks your fitness journey?

Myzone is a wearable fitness tracker and online social platform that shows and rewards EFFORT when you work out. A membership with Wave gives you discount on Myzone products too.

It displays real time heart rate, calories and intensity with five colour coded personalised zones and has a simple rewards-based metric called MEPs (Myzone Effort Points) that align with the WHO guidelines for physical activity.

The data can be displayed collectively for group training or individually direct to your smartphone.
